Working experience and occupation
Between 1981 and 1997, Mr Lim worked in the banking and finance sector. Upon graduation in 1981, he started his career with United Overseas Bank, then moved to an international bank - Banque Nationale de Paris, before joining Singapore Finance Limited (a public listed finance company that was part of Hong Leong Finance group). Throughout his banking and finance career, he was involved with international trade financing, asset based financing, corporate finance as well as real estate financing. In 1997, he left to start up his own property firm.
From 1997 to 1998, Mr Lim was actively involved as the Managing Director and shareholder of a property agency and consultancy company where he held an Agency license issued by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.
From 1998 to 2000, Mr Lim worked with the Ministry of Education, Singapore as their Head of Recruitment Marketing and Scholarship Unit.
From 2000 to 2006, Mr Lim was a Senior Credit Controller with Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation ("OCBC") in the Credit Risk Management Department, Group Risk Management Division. As a Senior Credit Controller, he was a risk-partner and co-grantor to OCBC's Real Estate lending units. As a risk-partner, he was responsible for the risk management of OCBC's real estate loan portfolio. He also held the CEO-appointed position of Real Estate Specialist Credit Signer of OCBC Bank - with industry-specialist signing authority for OCBC's real estate loans, both domestic and international credits. In OCBC, he was also the Secretary of the inaugural Real Estate Portfolio Strategy Committee which was formed to look at the strategic directions for the development and management of OCBC's overall real estate credit portfolio.
From June 2006 till 31 July 2009, he is a Director of ARA Management Pte Ltd
