Sunway Construction secured the Gold Award in the Annual Report category for companies with RM2 Billion to RM10 Billion in Market Capitalisation at the NACRA 2024 Awards.

Organised by Bursa Malaysia, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the NACRA Awards celebrate excellence in corporate reporting across Malaysia.

SunCon won the Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG)'s National Corporate Governance & Sustainability Awards (NACGSA) 2024 for two categories: Overall Excellence Awards (Top 10) Industry Excellence Award (Construction).

The NACGSA is a prestigious award that recognises outstanding corporate governance and sustainability practices among Malaysian public-listed companies. It replaces the MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards, held since 2009, with a more comprehensive methodology. This methodology, endorsed by the Corporate Governance Council chaired by the Securities Commission Malaysia, integrates the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, the MCCG assessment, and the Sustainability assessment by Bursa Malaysia and MSWG.

The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2024 - Highest Return on Equity (ROE) & Highest Returns to Shareholders Over Three Years in the Construction Sector, marking our sixth consecutive win.

The awards recognize companies based on their financial performance over three years, with results audited by Deloitte Malaysia. Winners for the Highest Return on Equity and Highest Returns to Shareholders are evaluated on profitability, share price gains, and dividends during the period from FY2020 to FY2023.

2023 National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) - Excellence Awards - Companies with Less Than RM2 Billion in Market Capitalisation - PLATINUM

SunCon won Platinum at the 2023 National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA), in the category of companies with RM2b to RM10b in Market Capitalisation. This achievement follows our Gold win in 2022 and is a testament to SunCon's continued dedication to upholding the highest standards of governance, transparency, and disclosure of information to our stakeholders.

SunCon convened its 10th Annual General Meeting on 20 June 2024 virtually, continuing the Company’s commitment to engaging its esteemed shareholders.

The virtual meeting was broadcast live from Menara Sunway, providing shareholders the opportunity to actively participate in the proceedings through live streaming. Shareholders were also able to exercise their voting and participation rights through online platforms.

Our Group Managing Director delivered a comprehensive presentation, covering the company’s financial performance and achievements for 2023, along with future growth prospects. The Board and Management effectively addressed and responded to all inquiries, feedback, and opinions raised by shareholders during the meeting, sharing valuable insights into the company's strategy and direction.

This esteemed accolade recognizes the exceptional qualities of Sunway Construction Group's annual report, as it successfully meets a range of stringent criteria set by the ARA. These criteria include clear communication objectives, an engaging and reader-friendly layout, transparent and concise disclosures, substantiated performance claims, and an overall balanced approach to reporting. The Silver award serves as a testament to our unwavering dedication to corporate reporting excellence and unwavering commitment to globally recognized standards.

Since its establishment in 1950, the ARA has been instrumental in providing organizations with a valuable platform to gauge the quality of their annual reports against globally recognized best practices. Through a meticulous evaluation process, every annual report submitted to the ARA Awards undergoes thorough examination by three expert panel members. These reports are assessed based on their comprehensive nature, as well as their commitment to transparency.

SunCon convened its 9th Annual General Meeting on 19 June 2023 virtually as part of the Company’s necessary precaution to safeguard the wellbeing of its esteemed shareholders amidst the prevailing COVID-19 risk.

The virtual meeting was broadcasted live from Menara Sunway, where shareholders were granted the opportunity to actively engage with the proceedings through live streaming, as well as exercise their participation and voting rights conveniently via online platforms.

Our Group Managing Director delivered a comprehensive presentation encompassing the company's financial performance and achievements in 2022, as well as exciting future prospects, delivering valuable insights to the shareholders. SUNWAY clinched the top five positions across nine industry categories at the recent Talentbank Graduates’ Choice Awards 2023. Of the nine categories, Sunway achieved first place across five categories, namely, Private Higher Education, Property Developer, Facilities Management, Construction, and Entertainment & Leisure. Among the honours bestowed, Sunway Construction was named the construction category's champion.

Sunway Construction Group Berhad won the Highest Return on Equity over Three Years, under Construction Category, for the fourth consecutive year at The Edge Billion Ringgit Club 2022, cementing its leadership and resilience amidst an industry that was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic.

To be eligible for The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2022, companies must be listed on Bursa Malaysia by March 31, 2022, and possess a market capitalization of at least RM1 billion. Furthermore, members eligible for the Highest Return on Equity over Three Years must exhibit consistent profitability throughout the evaluation period spanning FY2018 to FY2021. This ensures a track record of sustained positive earnings. The recipient of this accolade in the sectoral category will be recognized for their outstanding performance and exceptional ability to generate profits from shareholder investments.

Sunway Construction Group Berhad (SunCon) bagged the bronze award for its Annual Report 2021 at the 36^th International Annual Report Competition (ARC) Awards in New York, United States. SunCon took home the award in the Integrated AR & CSR - Asia/Pacific: Traditional Format category for its PDF version of Annual Report.

The ARC Awards is one of the largest competitions in the world organised by New-York based MerComm Inc. The awards were created to honor overall excellence in annual reports, and to encourage noteworthy and vital writing, as well as imaginative and original design. The ARC Awards Competition is unique in that each annual report is judged against itself, based on its success in communicating its company's story. Judging is based not on corporate profitability nor production, but on the values of creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and excellence as symbolized by the ARC Awards.

Established in 1950, ARA aims to provide a platform for organisations to benchmark their annual reports against the ARA criteria, which is based on best practices around the world. The awards follow a rigorous evaluation process, where each annual report submitted to the ARA Awards is reviewed by three members of an expert panel and assessed based on its comprehensiveness and transparency.

SunCon conducted its 8th Annual General Meeting on 22 June 2022 virtually as part of the Company’s necessary precaution to safeguard the wellbeing of its shareholders amidst the COVID-19 risk.

The virtual meeting was broadcasted live from Menara Sunway and shareholders were allowed to follow the proceedings via live streaming as well as participate and vote online. Our Group MD presented the financial performance and review of 2021 as well as future prospects. The Board and Management also duly responded to all the queries, opinions and feedback from the shareholders.

The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2021

SunCon took home The Edge Billion Ringgit Club award for the Highest Return on Equity (ROE) over three years for the Constructions sector, for the third consecutive year. The award underscores our resilience and profitability, for the evaluation perid FY2018-2020, despite the challenging operating environment overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sunway Construction Group Bhd won the Bronze Award for its Annual Report 2020 at the 35th International Annual Report Competition (ARC) Awards in New York, United States. SunCon won under the Construction & Building category for its PDF version of Annual Report. Established in 1987 by US-based MerComm Inc., the ARC Awards is the world's largest international competition honouring outstanding achievements in annual reports.

SunCon was recognised for demonstrating high standards of corporate governance while maintaining good performance at the Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG) ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards 2020. SunCon received the Industry Excellence Award Construction category, the 4th time which the company has won in this category since its listing.

Sunway Engineering Sdn. Bhd won the Mechanical & Electrical Contractor award at the Construction Industry Trade Awards (CITA) 2020 for the second consecutive year. The CITA Awards 2020 is an inaugural effort by the Master Builders Association of Malaysia (MBAM) to recognise organisations which have contributed and demonstrated excellence in enhancing the image, performance and improvement of the construction industry in their respective fields of expertise. The award was presented by Chief Executive, CIDB Malaysia, Datuk Ir. Ahmad 'Asri Abdul Hamid accompanied by President, Master Builders Association Malaysia, Tan Sri Sufri bin Haji Mhd Zin and Organising Committee Chairman of the 66th MBAM Anniversary Dinner, Mr. Yeoh Keong Yuan to Mr. Lai Yoke Wah, Assistant Manager Quality Ansurance of Sunway Engineering Sdn. Bhd. at MBAM's 66th Anniversary Dinner on 9 April 2021 at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) was awarded the “Highest Return on Equity (ROE) Over Three Years” in the Construction Sector at The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2020 for the second consecutive year. Despite an increasingly challenging environment, SunCon had continued to achieve an outstanding performance in terms of ROE for the evaluation period from FY2017-FY2019, garnering the company the top award in its category.

Due to the on-going Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), the award trophy was personally presented by Mr Azam Aris, The Edge Editor-in-Chief accompanied by Ms Kathy Fong, The Edge Executive Editor to Mr Evan Cheah, SunCon's Non-Independent Non-Executive Director accompanied by Mr Chung Soo Kiong, Group Managing Director of SunCon at a private ceremony held in The Edge's office premises in Petaling Jaya on 24th November 2020.

SunCon was recognised for excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) with a Gold Award at The Asset ESG Corporate Awards 2020. The Asset ESG Awards are the longest running ESG Awards in Asia by Asset Benchmark Research (ABR). The awards are a rigorous benchmarking service for the region's listed companies evaluated based on financial performance, management, corporate governance, social and environmental responsibility and investor relations. In view of COVID-19, the evaluation reflects a more detailed review of companies' adherence to safeguarding the environment, employees' health and safety in the operations, and their social responsibility to the community at large.

SunCon was recognised with the 'Asset Class Award' in the 2019 ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Awards for its outstanding and exemplary corporate governance practices.

The ACGS is a partnership between the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum and the Asian Development Bank which assesses public listed companies based on publicly-available information and benchmarked against international best practices on corporate governance. Six ASEAN member countries, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the assessment.

SunCon bagged the Platinum Excellence Award for its 2019 Annual Report in the 2020 National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) under the category of Companies With Less Than RM2 billion in Market Capitalisation.

NACRA is jointly organised by Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa Malaysia), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) with the objective of promoting excellence in corporate reporting. Now in its 30th year, NACRA 2020 introduced a new framework which integrates elements of sustainability and integrated reporting in line with evolving expectations.

The award win reflects SunCon’s continuous commitment to upholding high standards of governance, transparency and disclosure of information to our stakeholders.

SunCon was recognised for adhering to high standards of Corporate Governance (CG) at the prestigious Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG) - ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards 2019, for the fourth consecutive year. SunCon clinched the Industry Excellence Award 2019 for the Construction category and ranked 10th in the list of Top 100 companies for overall CG & Performance in 2019 for adopting and disclosing best corporate governance practices and processes. Due to COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures on prohibitions of mass gatherings, the award trophy was personally presented by MSWG Chief Executive Officer, Mr Devanesan Evanson to SunCon Group Managing Director, Mr Chung Soo Kiong at a private ceremony held in Menara Sunway on 30th September 2020.

SunCon continued to remain as a constituent in the FTSE4Good Index series for the sixth consecutive year following a review in June 2020. SunCon has been listed in the authoritative index since 2015, meeting the inclusion criteria for demonstrating strong Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) practices measured against globally recognised standards. The repeated successful inclusion in FTSE4Good demonstrates SunCon’s strong commitment to sustainability.
