MALAYSIA SMELTING CORPORATION BERHAD ("MSC" OR THE "COMPANY")
IN RESPONSE TO THE NEWS ARTICLES ON DISRUPTION OF MINING ACTIVITIES

With reference to recent news articles regarding the suspension of several mining companies near the Sungai Perak river, the management of Malaysia Smelting Corporation (“MSC” or “The Group”) wishes to provide the following clarification.

On 13 November 2025, MSC’s 80%-owned subsidiary, Rahman Hydraulic Tin Sdn Bhd (“RHT”), received a directive from the Perak Department of Minerals and Geosciences (“JMG”) to suspend its mining operations for three weeks due to the discolouration of Sungai Perak, pending further investigation.

If clearance is obtained within the stipulated timeframe, operations are expected to resume on 4 December 2025. The Group continues to engage with the Perak JMG to facilitate a swift and thorough investigation.

MSC remains committed to strong ESG practices. RHT has long implemented established environmental safeguards, including a formal Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, a comprehensive River Rehabilitation Plan, and a closed-loop water recirculation system to prevent untreated discharge. The team is also advancing research into passive water treatment using sulphate-reducing bacteria to further strengthen sustainable mineral development. These efforts were recently recognised when RHT received the Best Practices in Metallic Minerals Mining award at the 4th ASEAN Mineral Awards 2025 in Vientiane, Laos PDR in October 2025.

The financial impact arising from the temporary suspension is expected to be manageable and not material when assessed against the Group's full-year performance for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. Any further updates will be announced as necessary.

MSC’s operations comprise two core segments: tin mining and tin smelting. Tin smelting operations are proceeding as normal and are not affected by the temporary suspension.

This announcement is dated 20 November 2025.
